Primary Easter Activity

Almost 20 children gathered in the Primary room of the Kentlands Chapel to celebrate Easter.  Sister Theodore led the children in an egg relay race and the egg toss contests.  After decorating their Easter brown paper sacks, they were led to the back of the chapel for the Easter egg hunt.  At the end, they came back in to the Primary room to enjoy some delicious snacks.  Thanks to Sister Theodore and all of her helpers in making this activity fun and enjoyable.

On Sunday, March 18, Xiaoming Sun was baptized by Benjamin Tsai. Brother James Mu conducted the baptism. Talks were given by her cousin, Xiaohui He, and Michael Cunningham.

10000 Hits for MCB Blog

A few minutes ago, this blog, the Montgomery Chinese Branch blog, just received its 10000th hit.  Started in earnest in 2008, this blog has reported on the many wonderful activities and happenings in the Montgomery Chinese Branch.  Thank you for your faithful patronage in keeping up to date on the branch.  It is a marvelous blessing to live in these times of advancing technology and of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  How blessed we are!  As we look forward to the 20th reunion and beyond, we hope you will continue to stay tune with us and to keep us up to date on your statuses, whereabouts, and happenings as well.

Relief Society Setting Goal Activity

The Relief Society Enrichment activity focused on setting and keeping goals.  The sister created a nicely decorated book for recording and following up on goals.  Principles were based on those in the "Pursuit of Excellence" manual.  Twelve sisters enjoyed this special evening together as they recommitted to improving themselves.

Mission Call for Elder Tsai

Following in the footsteps of faithful missionaries who have served in the Land Down Under, Elder Joshua Tsai has received his mission call to serve in the Australia Sydney Mission.  He will be speaking Chinese for the next two years beginning July 5.  Congratulations, Joshua!

Passing of Sister Shiu

The branch presidency announced last Sunday in church that Sister Mary Shiu suddenly passed away in her apartment on Monday, March 5, 2012.  Sister Shiu and her husband, Bernard Shiu, joined the church in 2001.  Brother Shiu passed away in 2006.

Sister Shiu will be remembered as a very faithful disciple of Christ, punctual at all church meetings, and a faithful temple patron.  We will miss her dearly.

Reunion Registration

Planning for our branch's 20th reunion celebration is now underway.  Registration is now available for the reunion festivities.  Thanks to Brother Zhao, the registration form is online.  The two purposes are to register for the reunion and to update your contact information.  So, tell us which activities you can attend and what assistance you need.  Even if you cannot make it to the reunion, please take the time to register and update your contact information.  If you use Facebook or Twitter, or if you have blog or web pages that you would like to share with the branch, include them on the form.

This branch blog will be the main portal for all information on the reunion, but announcements and information exchange will also take place via 3 other channels:

1. traditional email announcements;
2. branch Facebook group, Montgomery Chinese Branch (Exchange of historical information and photos will still take place on the Facebook group page.); and
3. branch Twitter page (Twitter name is MontgomeryBranch, and address is @mcb_wdc.  Announcements will be available on Twitter for those who want to follow.)
