2016-11-13 常鳳艷姐妹的洗禮會 Baptism of Ruth Feng Yan Chang

常鳳艷姐妹在11/13號受洗加入中文分會的大家庭。蔡弟兄首先分享洗禮的重要，並且邀請傳教士用一個小柵門和小階梯做實務教學，象徵洗禮是跟隨耶穌基督的第一步，接著就需要透過聖靈的恩賜和持守到底繼續努力往上爬，獲得天父更多更多的祝福。

賴長老接著為常姐妹洗禮，因為太緊張了，做了兩次才正確完成，不過一切都順利完成了！

之後Sister Abbey Zhao分享聖靈恩賜和遵守誡命的重要，小沈姐妹則代表慈助會誠摯歡迎常姐妹的加入。楊長老和Brother Richard Huang 分享了當我受洗的小提琴鋼琴曲目，最後由趙弟兄代表分會會長團致歡迎詞，並驚喜的透過FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, 和 Skype 邀請Elder Dai (Daines), Elder Kerby和Sister Liou 跟Ruth 表達他們的愛和恭喜而圓滿落幕。

Sister Chang Feng Yen was baptized on 11/13/16 at 1:00pm and joined the branch family. Brother Tsai, being the first speaker, shared the importance of the baptism and invited missionaries to use a small gate and stair to do object lesson, symbolize that baptism is the first step of following Jesus Christ, and later on to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and endure to the end to keeping climbing up, to receive more and more blessing from Heavenly Father.

And the Elder Lyman performed the baptism, because he was very nervous, he had to do it twice, but it was nice and successfully done.

After the baptism Sister Abbey Zhao shared the importance of the gift of the Holy Ghost and keeping the commandments. Sister Meili Shen represent the relief society to welcome Sister Chang to join to the branch. Richard and Elder Yang performed when I am baptized in violin and piano. At the end, Brother Zhao represent the Branch Presidency to welcome Sister Chang, and invited former missionaries Elder Dai (Daines), Elder Kerby, and Sister Liou to surprise Sister Chang via FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, and Skype. The missionaries expressed their love and how they proud of her to bring and wonderful

and warm ending to the baptism.

陈妈妈生日聚会 Chen mama's 90th Birthday party 11/05/16

陈妈妈生日聚会

11月5日 中国分会的弟兄姐妹喜气洋洋的庆祝陈妈妈90大寿。庆祝会上一遍又一遍放着赵达志弟兄做的电子相片集。很多美好的回忆呈现在面前。庆祝会上几位姐妹回忆起陈妈妈对信仰的坚定和执着。 陈妈妈是中国分会最早的归信者之一。近25年来，她总是认真的守安息日，领聖餐，学经文，风雨无阻。陈妈妈慈爱为怀把分会的弟兄姐妹当作自己的亲人常常问寒问暖有好吃的总想着大家。每当庆祝佳节大家都能吃上陈妈妈亲手做的香喷喷的驴打滚，糯米糕，葱油饼等。她还教我们做月饼，包粽子。陈妈妈退休前是中国航空局下面建筑研究院的一个主任建筑师，毕业于北京大学。退休后来美帮女儿照顾孙子孙女。来美不久在传教士的感召下成为耶稣基督后期教会的一位虔诚的信徒。陈妈妈在归信路上从不动摇是我们的好榜样。信仰让陈妈妈常抱感恩之心。虽然一路风风雨雨，坎坎坷坷陈妈妈总以积极的态度对待。这也是陈妈妈常寿的原因吧。最后大家一起分享陈妈妈女儿带来的福，碌，寿蛋糕。愿陈妈妈福如东海，寿比南山，健健康康，向百岁进军。

Chen mama's birthday party

On November 5, the brothers and sisters of the Montgomery Chinese Branch happily celebrated Chen mama's 90th birthday. At the celebration, Brother Zhao made a photo slideshow of a collection of Chen mama over the years which brought back a lot of good memories. At the celebration, several sisters recalled Chen's steadfastness and perseverance in her belief of our her faith. Mrs. Chen is one of the earliest converts in China to join the LDS church. For over 25 years, she has always kept the Sabbath, partaken of the Sacrament, study the scriptures,  whether it's rain or shine. Chen mama's love for the brothers and sisters of the Branch as if they're her own family. Whenever we have celebrations like Chinese New Year and Mid Autumn Festival, Chen mama always make delicious donkey roll, glutinous rice cakes, onion cake and so many more dishes. Not only did she make them, we would have Relief Society activities and she would teach us how to make these delicious foods. 

Before her retirement, Mrs. Chen was a director of the Architectural Research Institute under the China Aviation Administration. She graduated from Peking University. After retirement, the United States helped her daughter to take care of grandchildren. Soon after she came to America, the church missionaries taught her the gospel and she became devout disciple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. Chen mama's unwavering example of her faith to always give thanks even when there's ups and downs and has always kept her positive attitude. 

Lastly, everyone enjoyed the cake that was brought by Chen mama's daughter.  The cake's writing wish Chen mama to have a long, healthy, and prosperous life.
