The Youth Ice Skating event took place at the outdoor Rockville Town Center. Many attended and had lots of fun, despite the cold weather.

Chinese Christmas Choir
The first ever Chinese Christmas Choir concert was performed twice on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2014, at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors' Center, once at 7pm and once at 8pm. The two performances were identical, and each performance was about 30 minutes. The 60+ member choir featured some of our members and full-time missionaries. Both concerts almost filled the Legacy Theater.

2014 Christmas Party
This year's Christmas party was organized by both Ruth Huang and Sherry Wei. The new party time from 5pm to 7pm allowed members to go home earlier. This year's menu was well organized with a full smorgasbord of ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls. The distinguished emcees were Matt and Ashley Pugmire. After dinner, the program began with the Primary children acting out the Nativity story. Then the youth performed a skit called "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." After the Relief Society sisters demonstrated a line dance to Rocking Christmas, some of the audience joined in. Then the sisters sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" accompanied by the brothers. At the finale, our guest from the North Pole, Santa, came to greet the young and old admirers. In all, more than 100 people attended, with over 20 from Virginia. All were filled with the spirit of Christmas. Merry Christmas to all.

Baptism of Jake Lin
On a December Saturday afternoon, Jake Zhiqiang Lin was baptized as the newest member of the branch. Steven Cheng, branch mission leader, coordinated and conducted the baptismal service, delivered the talk on baptism, and welcomed Jake into the Elders Quorum. Thomas Jeng performed the ordinance. Sister Jeng and Sister Magidson sang "Softly and Tenderly" by Will Thompson accompanied by a guitar. The missionaries showed us a video on the history of the church in Korea, while we wrote our testimonies for Jake. Sister Black talked on the gift of the Holy Ghost. President Huang welcomed Jake into the branch.
Steven Cheng remarked, "It is a pretty awesome feeling. I think seeing someone who went from being very skeptical and with very little knowledge of God in a general sense and Christ to being full of the spirit is real is just an amazing experience to be part of. There is certainly a lot faith and member fellowship in action, and the Spirit did a lot of the work."

Relief Society Presidency Change
Today a historic announcement was made in the change of the Relief Society Presidency. After serving for almost three years, Li-Fang Tsai was released as president, along with her counselors, Meili Shen and Alexis Chang (previously released). Meili Shen was called as the new Relief Society President, along with her new counselors, Fengdi Chen and Xiaohui Mu. Congratulations to the new presidency!

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends of the Montgomery Branch:
We would like to invite you and your family to join us for two great events in the month of December to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
First, please join our Sacrament service each Sunday at 9am. We have prepared special musical numbers and speakers for each Sunday during the month of December to celebrate the Savior’s birth. Our branch choir and the Washington DC Chinese community choirs will sing to bring you the Spirit of Christmas.
Second, you're invited to our annual Christmas party on Saturday, December 13th from 5pm - 7pm. The Montgomery Branch will prepare the main dishes, but please bring your favorite dish to share.

Branch Temple Activity
Since the first successful temple activity in May, the new branch presidency organized a Mandarin temple session. About 25 adults attended the session, which was predecessed by a brief prayer meeting in the organ waiting room. President Huang conducted the prayer meeting. The group posed for photos outside the temple after the session.
The children of the patrons engaged in activities at the nearby stake center, where Brother and Sister Tsai and Brother Shen watched over the children. They also prepared for the branch dinner afterwards.
We enjoyed food from Taipei Cafe and Costco. Also joining us were our friends from the Twin Lakes Branch.

2014-11 Relief Society Hotpot
On a cool November evening, about 30 Relief Society sisters took occasion to gather for a delicious hotpot dinner. The activity was the brainchild of Sister Alexis Chang. She introduced the activity and also taught one of the two classes tonight. Brother Da Zhao representing the branch presidency gave a few words of welcome. After the sisters enjoyed a delicious hot meal, they were able to attend two classes. Sister Chang taught the class of how to use the iPad to serve in the church and to learn the gospel. Sister Chen Mama taught the sisters how to make sweet rice cake. All in all, the activity was a success and a great opportunity to meet old and new sisters.
