2017-08-06 Baptism of Charlene Wang

On a beautiful Fast Sunday after our branch Fast and Testimony Meeting, the baptism for Sister Charlene Wang commenced.  Brother Patrick Shen conducted the baptismal service.  With songs handpicked by Sister Wang, Elder Lyman served as the music director and Joshua Tsai served as the accompanist.  After the opening hymn, "Come Follow Me," Sister Helen Mu offered the invocation.  Then Sister Azucena spoke on the importance of baptism.  Joshua played a musical interlude.  Then Elder Lyman baptized Sister Wang.  Elder Anderson distributed paper and pens for the writing of congratulatory notes for Sister Wang.  The branch choir sang "The Lord is My Shepherd," with Brother James Mu narrating the first verse in spoken word, followed by the sisters singing the first verse, and everyone singing the rest of the verses.  Sister Sudweeks, who became good friends with Charlene, spoke on the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Sister Meili Shen welcomed Charlene to the Relief Society, and Da Zhao welcomed her to the branch.  Finally, Charlene shared her conversion experience.  The baptism concluded with a Christmas hymn, selected by Sister Wang herself, "Angels We Have Heard on High."  Elder Packer offered the benediction.

Sister Wang's conversion experience spanned the course of over exactly one year to date.  As she explained, she finally was ready after the lengthy journey.  The branch offered great support today and throughout this past year.  Congratulations, Sister Wang, and welcome to the branch!
