Young Women Activity

The Young Women gathered at the home of Sister Pugmire on a quiet Friday afternoon. Sister Fugal taught the girls how to make a delicious Japanese cream cheese cake as well as chocolate covered cake balls. Afterwards we enjoyed pizza then delivered a few of the treats to fellow church members in the area who were celebrating their anniversary. We failed at a doorbell ditch when the sister caught the girls hiding behind the trash can. She was very pleased with the treats.


Next we went to the temple visitors center to view the beautiful temple at night and discuss our thoughts on the temple.

We wrapped up the night by reading 2 Nephi chapter 32. We shared our testimonies on the powers of the Holy Ghost through baptism.

After adequate sleep, the next morning we enjoyed a most sumptuous meal of crepes.  They were able to return home by noon.  Thanks, Sister Pugmire, for the fun filled time with the Young Women.

Stake Youth Conference

This year's stake Youth Conference took place at the Foulger Farm.  The youth participated in a dance, after which the young women slept in the barn while the young men slept in tents outside.  The next morning after breakfast, the youth split up into groups to perform service projects in various places.  In the afternoon, they returned for a stir-fry dinner.  An EFY speaker gave a fun spiritual message before the finale testimony meeting.  Although only two youths participated from our branch, they gained a lot from the conference and the them of "Service: It's in our Nature."

2015-05 Dragon Boat Event

A huge thank you to the efforts of Sister Shen who made all this possible; she brought this event
together combining the youth of the Montgomery Chinese Branch and Kentland's Ward for their first Dragon Boat Race as well as organizing an adult team. After practicing twice with different coaches, the youth and adult worked together as a team, worked on their synchronization paddling techniques, and the teams were ready to race!

On a beautiful Saturday 5/16/15, there were nearly 50 teams that showed up for the race! All the practices must have worked, they youth team received bronze medals and the adult team received silver in their respective tiers. It was great team effort! Both youth and adults had a terrific time!

Bates Baby Blessing and Baptism

Today was a double header for the Bates family.  Jeremy blessed their newborn daughter, Francesca, during our fast and testimony meeting.  She slept through the entire blessing.

After church, the baptism of Julius Bates took place in the Primary Room.  Jeremy's dad, John Bates, talked on the importance of baptism, after which Jeremy baptized Julius.  Jeremy's stepmother spoke on the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Jeremy then confirmed Julius a member of the church.  Congratulations to the Bates family for Julius' baptism and Francesca's baby blessing!  Gongxi!
