Today marks two firsts in the history of the Branch. On Sunday, August 16, 2020, the Branch held its in-person Sacrament Meeting since March. The fact that it was held in the Kentlands Chapel was significant, since we have not held meetings and activities in the Kentlands Chapel since the mold infestation in September 2019.
Brother Adam Fugal wearing the required mask conducted the Sacrament Meeting with President Charles Huang presiding. Thorpe, still in the MTC and due to come to Maryland in September, offered the invocation. After the opening hymn, "Rejoice, the Lord is King," Brother Jason Wang blessed their first baby girl, Isabella, with the branch presidency and Brother Bendall assisting. She is the first infant blessed since COVID-19 started. Then the video camera and sound were turned off for ten minutes for the administration of the Sacrament ordinance. President Huang blessed the Sacrament while Brennan Zhao passed. The special invited speaker was Michael Chang, former missionary elder in our branch from 2008 to 2010. Brother Adam Fugal offered the benediction. In attendance today were Elder and Sister Sudweeks, former missionaries in our branch in 2016 and who knew Jason and Charlene Wang very well.
