2017-09-10 Baptism of Sister Li He Chun

On September 10, Sister He Chun Li was baptized right before she returned back to China.

Our branch mission leader, Patrick Shen, conducted the baptismal service.  After the opening hymn, "Nearer My God to Thee," Sister Yang, a full-time sister missionary, offered the invocation.  Sister Betty Azucena spoke on baptism, and Brother Benjamin Tsai shared his testimony.  Then Elder Packer baptized Sister He Chun Li.  Next, the branch choir sang "How Great Thou Art," followed by a talk on the gift of the Holy Ghost by Sister Sara Huang.  Brother Adam Fugal confirmed Sister Li a member of the church.  Sister Fengdi Chen welcomed Sister Li to the Relief Society, and President Charles Huang welcomed her to the branch.  Sister Li was given the opportunity to share her personal testimony.  The service concluded with the closing hymn, "God Is Love," and with a benediction by Brother Ethan Wang.  Congratulations to Sister Li as the newest member of the church, and good luck in China.

Seminary Class of 2017-18

This year will be the Brother Tsai's fourth year teaching Seminary to our branch's youth, and it will be his largest class with 7 or more students. We and the students have been blessed with his dutiful service to these youth each Sunday before church starts! We hope you all will have a great year!

2017-09-04 Apple Picking at Water's Orchard

It was as wise decision to change the date and time of the apple picking activity from a rainy Saturday to an orchard two hours away to a nice sunny Monday at Water's Orchard which is 20 minutes from church. With nearly 30 people attending the apple picking activity, we were set to pick out all the delicious Honey Crisps apples.  Everyone had a great time and went home with many pounds of the scrumptious juicy fruit!

2017/09/01-02 Young Women Campout

On Friday, September 1st, I went camping (Swain's Campsite) next to the Potomac River as a young women’s activity. When I first arrived with the Zhao’s, I saw that the Ning’s had already started unpacked. As I walked down the rocky path, the beautiful Potomac river came into view. The trees were parted to reveal the rushing waters. Once we finished unpacking the cars, jobs were handed out. I first helped Sister Ning set up a large tent for her, Sister Zhao and camping gear just in case it rained. Sister Zhao and Brother Ning were in charge of cooking while the Zhao kids helped light the charcoal. As night drew closer, we built a fire to keep warm. We were expected the weather to get cooler in the night. The Zhao's, Ning’s, Sister Bastian, and I had almost finished the BBQ when the Tsai came to join us. As the fire died out, we decided to start getting ready for bed. Everyone left until it was just Sister Ning, Sister Zhao, Megan, and . We went to our tents and got ready for bed. Before we went to bed, we decided to play a few round of Monopoly Deal. The night was filled with laughter and discussions. We wouldn’t be surprised if the other camper could hear us. After we finished up our final game, we had a prayer to keep us warm and dry. Heaven Father must have heard our prayer clearly because in the morning, while we were warm and dry, parts of our tent was wet. We were very grateful that we weren't flooded. A nice healthy breakfast of omelets and fruit distracted us from the rain pouring around. After cleaning up our camp site, we went on a short hike to the Great Falls. -Meiling Jiang
