Relief Society Enrichment Activity

At 7:30 pm, on October 21, 2010, during the Relief Society Enrichment Evening, 14 sisters came to make gifts for missionaries.  We made 5 aprons, 5 bags, 5 scarves, 4 hats, and 14 Christmas gifts with words from the scriptures.  We want to thank Sister Li-Fang Tsai  to prepare the materials and teach us how to make aprons and bags.  We also thank Sister Fengdi Chen to teach us how to knit hats.  We are very appreciative that Sisters Tsai and Chen made an extra apron and hat in advance for Elder Chiang, so that we could present these gifts to him before he leaves.  He served our Branch diligently before he served in the Rockville ward. He is going to finish his mission on October 27.  He is a real good missionary, and we will always remember him.  We hope that he will come back in the future to visit us.

Sister Betty Azucena

Young Single Adult Activity

On Saturday, October 16, 2010, the young single adults gathered at the Kentlands cultural hall.  They engaged in pumpkin carving and some interactive games. Mike Cunningham gave a very brief spiritual message.  The numbers were few, but they had a great time.

Young Women Candy Making Activity

Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Zhao home, Sister Morgan Kuehne taught six young women how to make toffee and caramel.  From the reports and actual tastings, the candies were might tasty!  The first two photos show online photos for advertisement purposes.  The rest of the photos show how much the young women had.  Thanks, Sister Kuehne, for this important lesson.

General Conference Lunch & Scripture Activity

General Conference seems to get better and better each conference.  This time was no exception.  From the pulpit, we heard talks on simplifying our hectic schedules, sending out more missionaries, following the prophet, choosing to obey, and many other relevant topics.  Between the two sessions on Sunday at 2pm, we enjoyed a delicious rib lunch prepared by Sisters Kaye Jewel and Sara Huang and others.  Then two teams of five participants faced off in a grueling contest of scripture chase, followed by a game of Seek.

New Baby Shirts

We're pleased to announce our newest acquisition. Baby Clayton was very anxious to join us--he came a week early and was born only an hour after Natalie's water broke and only 10 minutes after we arrived at the hospital. Natalie and Clayton are doing very well. Jackson is having fun being a big brother. We're happy to be a family of four now!
Perhaps you've already seen the announcement on facebook or our blog, but we wanted to share our happy news with you.

Love,

Jack, Natalie, Jackson, & Clayton
