Where Are They Now? ---> Nick Rodgers

I am Nick Rodgers, also known as Luo Zhang Lao or Luo Jie.  I served as a missionary in the branch from January 2003 to December 2004.  On my mission, my companions were Elders Logan Hale, Benjamin Li, Chad Muir, Alan Sheffield, Dylan Landeen, Mitch Howe, Joe Heaton, and Kyle Melling.  My mission presidents were President Madsen and President Price.

Two days stand out to me.  On my first day visiting the branch, I was feeling very welcomed but out of place. I couldn't understand anything anyone was saying, and I'm sure they couldn't understand me either. During my last day as a member of the branch, I was feeling like I was leaving home all over again. I could understand them, and they could understand me. In two years we had become family. I still think of my time in the branch frequently and fondly.

I graduated from the BYU Marriott School of Business with a degree in Information Systems in 2009.  Now I am working for a small consulting company called Metric-X located in Perrysburg, OH.  I am married to Brittany Viola Rodgers with 4 children: Madisen Rayanne (girl age 4), Nicholas "Cole" Jeffrey (boy age 3), Ethan David (boy age 2), and Bennett Daniel (boy age 6 weeks).

Young Single Adult Activity

Right after church on Sunday, February 20, the young single adults gathered at the home of President Shen.  After they enjoyed a dinner together, they played some social games.  Mike Cunningham shared a spiritual thought.  In total about ten people participated not including the three elders.

Where Are They Now? ---> Caleb Wertz

I am Caleb Wertz (Weng Zhang Lao) I was a missionary in the branch from 1999-2001. Some of my companions were Elder Johnson, Elder Gordon, Elder Thorsted, Elder Chiu, Elder Chen, Elder Fugal. We had such a fun time together serving in the branch. My mission president was President Gary Farnes.

I have so many great memories being in the branch it's very hard to name just a couple. A funny memory was my first day in the mission my companion played a trick on me. He told Sister Tsai to pretend to be an investigator. So we knocked on her door and she let us in and we started to teach her. I remember she had to leave the room for a second, and I asked my companion "do you think she will get baptised?" Ha! It was a really funny experience. Another experience that was really neat was when I got transferred to College Park our English class was very small. We maybe had 3 students. Me and my companion decided we were going to work hard to get more students. So we posted English Class flyers literally everywhere! We posted them on street poles, grocery stores, apartment complexes, costco, etc. The next week we had about 70 people at english class. It was such a blessing and through that English class we were able to meet Cui Kai Rong who joined the church a couple weeks after I left to go home. I had tons of experiences in the branch. I miss the branch; I need to plan a vacation and come visit. I was touched by so many of your testimonies, your faith, your sincerity, and your love.

I graduated from Brigham Young University about 5 years ago and have been doing residential real estate in Utah for the past 3 and a half years. I am still single, but hopefully one of these days will change that :)

Stake Youth Talent Show

This year's stake youth talent show took place at the Stake Center on Saturday evening on February 12.  As our SYC representative and the only youth attendee from our branch that evening, Joshua performed the piano solo, "Asian Dream Song" to a generous applause.  His act was the 11th of 18 performances that evening.  Way to go, Joshua!  Participants that evening were treated to ice cream and pie.
