Baptism of Clayton Zhao

It was a beautiful hot summer day when the day finally has arrived. Through the course of months, he prepared himself  mentally and spiritually, and even lost a tooth, Clayton could not have been more excited to be baptized by his father. He loved the How to Train Your Dragon movie character Toothless and decided to send out invitations using that theme.

With over 60 guests in attendance, Clayton definitely felt the love and support of his family and friends as he walked down into the font for his baptism. Immediately after the baptism, he was confirmed by his father as an official member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was then followed by the Primary singing a musical piece. Then Clayton enlightened everyone with playing a Primary song names Baptism with his violin.

Homecoming for Sister Tung

After 18 months, Sister Kristy Tung has returned from serving as a full-time missionary in the Taiwan Taichung Mission.  She came back to the US on July 9 and reported to the stake council on July 13.  Then on July 20, she gave her Homecoming Sacrament talk, following remarks by her parents.  In honor of her homecoming, Joshua Tsai sang a hymn, "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul."  After church ended, a Linger Longer activity was held for her.  President Shen presented a missionary plaque to her.  Congratulations, Kristy, for being the tenth missionary to be sent out from our branch and for a successful mission.

FHE Activity at Mission Home

President and Sister Cooke, mission president and mission mom of the Washington DC North Mission, were so gracious in inviting our branch members and friends to their home for a Chinese Family Home Evening activity.  Coordinated and planned by our amazing four full-time missionaries, they presented a model FHE, including a lesson on faith in Jesus Christ, a demo on holding your hand still while a piece of paper is burning in your hand, and a game of scripture charades.  Afterwards, we enjoyed ice cream and sherbet.  More than 40 branch members and friends attended the evening.  Thanks, President and Sister Cooke for their hospitality in sharing the evening with us and for the delicious dessert.  Thanks to Sister Connell for the photos and for capturing our hearts with superb acting as the lion in the story of Daniel and Lion's Den.

Homecoming for Elder Tsai

Arriving home on June 17, Elder Joshua Tsai gave his homecoming talk on June 22.  His parents also spoke a few words.  The Relief Society sisters sang a hymn.  He reported to the Stake Council on July 13.  Congratulations on a successful mission.  (For photos, see the Tsai blog.)
