2014-09 Mid-Autumn Festival preparation

On the Friday night before the big event, the chapel was buzzing with folks busily preparing for the Moon Festival activity.  The missionaries came to plan for their charades contest and were designing their database of keywords.  The children's committee was gathering together exciting activities for the children's booths tomorrow.  The youth were secretly quarantined in the Relief Society Room (with pizza, of course) so they could concentrate their efforts on perfecting the centerpiece play of the program to help the audience understand the legend behind the Moon Festival.  The Relief Society sister congregated in the cultural hall and kitchen to prepare the most delicious homemade moon cakes.  Chen Mama showed the sisters how to make the moon cakes, so they are bound to be yummy.  If you are not sure whether you can come or not, you should come just to taste the moon cakes.  Stay tuned for the report of tomorrow's big celebration.

Foulger弟兄的遗体告别仪式将于八月二十八日星期四晚七到九时在Joseph Gawlers 殡仪馆举行。敬请各位弟兄姐妹参加。殡仪馆地址：5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Foulger弟兄的追悼会以及葬礼会在以后日子举行，将仅限于家庭成员，不对外公开。本分会将也准备要纪念Foulger弟兄以及已故的Foulger姐妹. 时间地点另行通知。

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

There will be an open house to bid farewell to our beloved Brother Sid Foulger on the evening of August 28, from 7-9 PM, at Joseph Gawlers funeral home located at 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016.  Funeral services for family only take place at a later date. The Montgomery Branch also plans to participate in or host an event honoring Brother Sid and the late Sister Mary Foulger in the near future. We will send out an announcement once the details are set.

Utah Branch Reunion

A mini-Branch reunion was held at the home of Felipe and Petra Chou.  We met our dear friends, the Anderson's who left our branch recently but helped out our branch in many ways during their short stay in our branch.  That night we were happy to see so many friends: Sister Gordon, Sister King (Kwun) and family, Elder Thorsted and family, and Elder Smith and family. The backyard was just right for the occasion.  It was very cool and relaxing.  Thank you, Chou family, for your hospitality.

Passing of Brother Foulger

弟兄姐妹们： 

我們懷著十分沉痛的心情向大家宣布，SIDNEY FOULGER弟兄於2014年8月10日下午辭世。FOULGER弟兄和已故的MARY FOULGER姐妹，在蒙哥馬利郡華語分會的早期，起了關鍵性的作用。在華語分會成立初期所做的貢獻一直被我們銘記。從那時起，他們和我們華語分會和華人社區建立了深厚的情誼。

我們深切哀悼FOULGER弟兄的辭世.  同時,我們也感謝在過去二十多年來他爲華語分會和華人社區帶來一切的祝福.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Brother Sidney Foulger in the afternoon of August 10, 2014.  Brother Foulger and the late Sister Mary Foulger played a critical in the growth of the Chinese Branch during its early years, and have remained not only great friends of the Chinese Branch but also of Chinese people ever since.  

As we mourn Brother Foulger's passing, our hearts are also filled with gratitude for all he has done for more than two decades to bless and enrich the lives of so many in the Chinese Branch and the Chinese community.
