Memorial Service for Shuqin Tang

On January 26, 2015, a friend of the branch passed away after a long bout with cancer. Sister Shuqin Tang had been investigating the church and had frequently attended our meetings. The following Friday evening, President Huang conducted a memorial service for her in the Relief Society room at the Kentlands Chapel, respecting a request from her family. The service began with an opening hymn, "Be Still, My Soul," with Brother Richard Huang as the pianist and Brother Ben Tsai as the musical director. After Elder Gerber-Kai offered the invocation, Sister Sara Huang spoke on the importance of eternal families. A special musical number, "Lead Kindly Light," was sung in Chinese by Elders Liang, Gerber-Kai, Ng, and Brother Tsai, accompanied by Elder Yang playing the violin and Richard Huang playing the piano. Brother Matthew Ward then spoke about the reality of the resurrection. Brother Richard Huang played a special number on the piano, "Claire de Lune" by Debussy. Sister Tang's son, Fei Wang, spoke a few words in remembrance of his mother. After the closing hymn, "God Be With You Til We Meet Again," Brother Patrick Shen offered the benediction. In the cultural hall, we enjoyed refreshments and socializing. We offer our condolences to the family of Shuqin Tang and wish them comfort and peace.

我們邀請您和您的家人參加我們今年的蒙哥馬利華語分會新年晚會，時間是二零一五年二月二十八日，從下午五點到晚上八點，在華盛頓支聯會中心，地址是10000 Stoneybrook Drive,Kensington, MD 20895。我們預定於六點吃晚餐，但手藝活動下午五點就開始。在晚餐後，我們能享受一些文化節日。

晚餐用便飯方式，請您攜帶一道菜與大家分享。我們希望你能跟我們一起迎來羊年。

Members and friends of the Montgomery Chinese Branch,

We would like to invite you and your family to join us at the Montgomery Branch Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 5pm to 8pm at the Washington DC Stake Center at 10000 Stoneybrook Drive, Kensington, MD 20895. The dinner will start at 6pm, but craft and activity booths will begin at 5pm. After the dinner, we will enjoy the festive cultural program.

The dinner will be potluck, so please bring a dish to share. We hope that you will be able to join us in ushering in the year of the goat.

Mission Home Family Home Evening

Since we had a really successful family home evening a few months ago, we decided that we need to come out with another wonderful night for all participants, this time with more music. So, all of the messages would be surrounded by music. It would be a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of family. Therefore, we asked permission from Sister Cook to let Elder Yang perform music with his violin. Also, we organized the whole program with different hymns. Our main purpose this time was helping all the people in the family home evening to feel the importance of love in their home. We also wish we could use this opportunity to help everyone understand why our church really emphasizes family a lot.

整個晚會由會眾齊唱"來跟隨我"，緊接著由沈Emerald Shen做開會祈禱，在這次的晚會中，康姐妹也邀請到了兩位特別的嘉賓來為我們演唱兩首歌曲，其中第一位是Edwin 張，他為我們演唱了"你鼓舞了我",帶來了靈性的開始，緊接著由楊長老演奏小提琴，庫克姐妹演奏鋼琴，會眾共同演唱"愛在家"開啟了我們今晚的活動，接著由伍長老分享愛在家中的重要，下面則是全體成員共同唱"家中有愛心"這首兒童歌曲，公孫長老分享父母設立好的榜樣的重要，再次地強調我們可以在家獲得愛的精神，接著群眾獻唱"家庭能永遠在一起"，並由梁長老做最後的分享，他分享了家庭能在聖殿中能獲得的祝福，最後由於在近日是庫克會長及姐妹的二十五週年結婚紀念日，所以特別請到張明文弟兄為他們獻唱"祢何偉大"這首聖詩為整個晚會添加了溫馨的氣氛，最後由提供了蔡致琦做閉會祈禱，並開始我們的小遊戲時間，這次傳教士規劃了"超級比一比"這個在台灣相當熱門的遊戲，四人一組，並排成一列，由第一人接受題目，之後必須要將題目表演給下一個人直到最後一人，最後的人必須猜出他的隊員所表演的題目是什麼，整場活動中充滿了歡笑，最後眾人在庫克家庭提供的點心及交誼時間下，帶著滿滿的溫馨及歡笑離開了這次的晚會。

The evening began with the opening hymn, "Come Follow Me", followed by an invocation offered by Emerald Shen. For the fireside, Sister Connell invited Edwin Zhang to sing "You Raise Me Up." Elder Yang played the violin, accompanied by Sister Cook at the piano, while the congregation sang "Love at Home." Then Elder Wu shared his thoughts on love in the home. Then the congregation sang sang the Primary song, "home caring." Elder Gerber-Kai talked about the importance of parents setting a good example and emphasized that we can the spirit of love at home. The congregation sang "Families Can Be Together Forever." Elder Liang discussed temple blessings for the family. Last of all, as a tribute to President and Sister Cook's 25th wedding anniversary, Sister Connell also invited Brother George Chang to sing "How Great Thou Art." This hymn added a warm atmosphere for the entire evening. Finally, Jonathan Tsai offered the benediction. We started a little game time planned by the missionaries called "Super Race." This game was very popular in Taiwan and is played in groups of four with each group in one line. The first person receives a topic and uses body gestures to show the next person the topic. This is done until the last person tries to guess what his players are acting out. The entire event is full of laughter. Finally everyone enjoyed refreshments prepared by the Cook family. The fellowshipping was full of warmth and laughter as everyone left the party.
