On a very hot and muggy day, the Relief Society held a FamilySearch activity night at the Kentlands Chapel from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday, June 22. Li-Fang Tsai conducted the activity. During the first half hour, everyone enjoyed salad and chicken and socializing with each other.
After listening to the song, “Today I Walked Where Jesus Walked,” Sister Tsai shared a personal story about a pair of shoes which she wore to many different places, including Taiwan and Utah. Charles Huang told a story about her grandmother buying him a pair of new shoes, which he only wore once for a choir concert and never wore again. Sara Huang related a story of her returning the gifts that her younger brother gave her from his business trips. She felt that the gifts had no meaning for her, but her brother was sad. Somehow, she kept possession of one of the gifts, which was a baby pair of shoes for Richard. Xinqiu Chong shared a story of her grandmother making and sewing a pair of shoes every year for her household with her own hands. Abbey talked about a story of her father buying shoes for Cayleigh when they visited Hong Kong, he also washes their dirty shoes became as white as new.
Next, Ben Tsai showed a video of a Chinese training for the FamilySearch Family Tree feature. He then demonstrated some of the features of Family Tree in Chinese, listed a few ways to find help for FamilySearch, and emphasized that using FamilySearch should be fun. Margery Anderson, our branch family history specialist, also explained some important features of FamilySearch during Brother Tsai presentation.
The last half hour allowed attendees to work on their own FamilySearch tasks and to ask questions of Sister Margery Anderson.
