A couple days after July 4th, our branch held a BBQ for our members and friends at the stake center. Many members and friends showed up to enjoy the time together with one another.

2024-06-23 Farewell to Zach & Maggie
Zach Burgoyne and Maggie Cheng moved into our branch for about a year for school. After graduation, Zach found a job in Utah. Best luck to them! We will miss them.

2024-06-22 Youth Conference @ Kirtland OH
This year's youth conference was quite amazing and eventful. The leaders changed things a little bit, instead of having ma's & pa's, they asked the older youth to be youth leaders to lead the youth and the parents/leaders are there to help with anything that are needed.
We started by going to the stake center at 5:00am. Everyone got in their group and they were loaded to the three chartered buses for Kirtland. Two of buses arrived on time, on bus was running late, so two buses started heading out. Bus A went all the way to Kirtland without any problems, Bus B's AC stopped working after 2 hours and the bus got really hot. Most of MCB youth was bus B. Bus C, which was supposed to be an hour late, was five hours late.
Earlier this year in April the church purchased the Kirtland Temple from the reformed church, our youth made history to be the very first group to hold a devotional inside the Kirtland Temple. Clayton and Cayleigh were part of the choir that sang inside the temple. What a special time for them!
The youth also had a wonderful time singing karaoke and dancing at dinner. They also held a testimonial meeting before heading back home. Btw, everyone love to put their blue tape sticker on Da, so he kept the shirt.
On the way back, the bus situations continued. Bus C was half and hour late, so bus A and bus B left. Bus B still did not have AC so Da worked with the other adults to get everyone in the bus bags and bags of ice to cool them down as well as opening the emergency windows for ventilation to bear the 85+ degree weather while riding home. On the way home, another tragedy struck, literally. Bus A, with no problems and AC and wifi, was side swiped by a cargo truck which took out the driver side mirror and shattered the glass. The bus had to make an emergency stop on the side of the highway. The other two buses pulled over and all the adult drivers had to redistribute bus A's youth to other two buses. All the bags and cargo were moved along the busy fast highway. One of the parent drivers chased the truck that struck the bus and the police caught them. The youth didn't get home until 11:30pm, safely.
From Cayleigh's experience: Youth Conference was fun. We went to Ohio and got to visit the Kirkland Temple, which I vividly remembered when I went when I was younger a couple years back. We stayed there for two days one night at college campus. I got to take part in the choir to be able to sing when we got to the temple. The combined Kentland's Ward and Montgomery branch were able to hold the first devotional in the Kirkland temple. I thought that was very cool. A lot of planning had to go into it and I experience was amazing things that Joseph Smith and the other priesthood holders and also the able to do the same.
From Clayton's experience: This year, I was able to become a youth leader/"Pa" during the Seneca Youth Conference, where we visited the Kirtland temple, Smith Farm, and many of the other Church's historical sites in Kirtland, Ohio. I was initially apprehensive of being a leader, trying to learn as many games as I can to potentially keep the kids entertained, but when the time came, it turned out to be super easy, since our group had respectful and awesome kids. With the church having recently purchased the historical site from another church, it was amazing to be part of the first devotional ever hosted at the Kirtland Temple. It was a cool experience to imagine what life was like for the Saints, as newly called missionaries worked with us to learn about the sites. However, our high adventure was not without obstacles. There was also a whole fiasco surrounding the buses on the way to Kirtland, which none of the three buses were able to avoid. Bus 3 arrived five hours late and later broke it's headlights. Bus 2 had no air conditioning the whole trip (which ff and dad were in) and was so hot that they bought ice to cool down. Bus 1, my bus, got clipped by a truck in a hit and run, and was evacuated a little past halfway of our trip back. However, embracing these changes and making the most out of the youth's time together allowed for some awesome mafia games and opportunities to meet new people.
