On February 1, 2018, President James Baird passed away due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Today on March 11, Elders Scott Whiting and Gordon Smith came for a special stake conference. They released James Baird as Stake President, Nathan Sheets as 1st Counselor, and Robert Nelson as 2nd Counselor. Then they sustained Nathan Sheets as the 13th Stake President of the Washington DC Stake, Kim Golightly as 1st Counselor, and Steve Alfandre as 2nd Counselor. It was also announced this morning that Kathy Nelson, wife of President Robert Nelson, passed away yesterday.
