On Monday Memorial Day, the branch youth held another successful Dragon Boat race event at Riley's Lock. This year we have close to 50 youth including youth inviting their friends, over two dozen adults, and even our stake President Arnold joined in the activity. The original forecast was thunderstorm and lightning, but the heavens were extraordinarily nice that day to become a perfect day. Many thanks to Sis Markoff so generous offering the long boats and safety gear, and many leaders and parents helping out at the event. Sis Chau told the story behind the Dragon Boat race. After some safety briefing from Bro Harding, it was time to start racing! Some of the races were very competitive and were neck to neck. In the last race, the adults get to compete against the kids. All the kids had a blast and went home tired out.
"This year‘s dragon boat activity that was held last month was a lot of fun. I was able to hang out with my friends from the Seneca ward and the other young woman from our branch. My friends and I were able to have a great time rowing and winning against the adults. The whole morning was a lot fun as I came earlier to help set up and grab lifejackets the other who were there. The event was definitely exciting and I hope to be able to do this again next year." - Cayleigh Z.
