Shenandoah Campout

The Twin Lakes Branch graciously invited our branch members to attend their branch's 5th annual camping trip at the Shenandoah River State Park. As 18 members from our branch, including 8 children, accepted the invitation. The happy campers arrived late after 6pm, instead of the original 5pm starting time. Campsites were reserved at both the campground and the RV site. After pitching tents and eating dinner, everyone congregated at a shelter to watch "Meet the Mormons" at 9pm. The next day, we gathered at the same shelter to enjoy breakfast together. Over 60 people attended. In the afternoon, the group went rafting down the Shenandoah River. However, none of our branch members attended because of the Montgomery Branch Games Night that evening. We thank the Twin Lakes Branch for their thoughtful invitation. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor fun.

New Counselor

Today our high councilor, Kent Mikkelsen, released Thomas Jeng as second counselor to the branch president and called Adam Fugal as the new second counselor. Adam Fugal was released as branch clerk, and Jeremy Bates was called as the new branch clerk. Thomas Jeng was also sustained as Young Men's President for the remainder of the time he is here. Thomas and Amber Jeng will be moving to Singapore in about a month as part of his job transfer. Good luck, Thomas, Amber, and baby Michael.

Elders Quorum Picnic

At the new Fallsgrove Stream Valley Park, the Elders Quorum hosted a barbecue. About 25 people attended this outdoor activity. Every family brought a dish to share, while the Elders Quorum supplied the hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken.

Young Women Activity

The young women gathered in the home of Sister Ward to prepare for the next Young Women's activity next week. Specifically they made gifts for the birthday girls to give them on the birthday bash activity.

Temple Activity

The branch quarterly temple activity coincided with the 1pm endowment session on August 1 and also with the first endowment session for Paul and Celia Feng. Escorted by the Tsai's, Brother and Sister Feng received their own endowment and were subsequently sealed in the Washington Temple today. Brother Steve Hilton performed the sealing ordinance in Chinese. About 20 people attended the endowment, and about 20 people also attended the sealing. It was an amazing to witness the spirit confirming the bond between this wonderful couple, married for almost 50 years. Congratulations, Paul and Celia. Adam and Sophy Fugal and some youth watched the Primary children at the stake center. Thanks, Adam and Sophy.
