2024-05-27 Youth Dragon boat race at Riley's Lock

On Monday Memorial Day, the branch youth held another successful Dragon Boat race event at Riley's Lock. This year we have close to 50 youth including youth inviting their friends, over two dozen adults, and even our stake President Arnold joined in the activity. The original forecast was thunderstorm and lightning, but the heavens were extraordinarily nice that day to become a perfect day. Many thanks to Sis Markoff so generous offering the long boats and safety gear, and many leaders and parents helping out at the event. Sis Chau told the story behind the Dragon Boat race. After some safety briefing from Bro Harding, it was time to start racing! Some of the races were very competitive and were neck to neck. In the last race, the adults get to compete against the kids. All the kids had a blast and went home tired out.

"This year‘s dragon boat activity that was held last month was a lot of fun. I was able to hang out with my friends from the Seneca ward and the other young woman from our branch. My friends and I were able to have a great time rowing and winning against the adults. The whole morning was a lot fun as I came earlier to help set up and grab lifejackets the other who were there. The event was definitely exciting and I hope to be able to do this again next year." - Cayleigh Z.

2024-05-03 Branch Temple Baptism

It has been quite a while since our branch had a temple proxy baptism activity. Thanks to the coordinating efforts of Brother Tsai and Sam Mansfield, we have a huge turnout, total of 25 patrons and 4 temple worker: We had many firsts too!

-------------------

I truly felt the spirit last night. Because I wasn't asked to do anything in the beginning, I was able to observe and soak in the Spirit of love, service, and confirmation how beautiful the names of persons are thanking us in that room. We had such an incredible group, from 12 yo to 81 yo; first time performing baptism, first time receiving baptism, first time witnessing, first time confirmations, to first time temple ordinance workers to very experienced. It was incredibly memorable.

------------------

Lovely evening with branch members to attach temple baptism at the Washington DC Temple. Wonderful experience with the youth and the new members that joined our branch this past year. It was wonderful. Brothers helped out to perform the ordinances.

Young Men and Youth Women do not mind getting wet and got baptized
Older sisters that cannot get in water help with the confirmation of receiving the Holy Ghost
Missionaries came to support the new members who attended
I hope we all can follow our Prophet’s counsel to attend the temple often. It doesn’t matter how old we are. Also, I am so proud to see two of our older sisters are now temple workers and assisted us last night :)

Also, we are reminded by the 1st councilor of the temple presidency, we are not only helping our ancestors. But also attending the temple for ourselves, so we can get closer to our Savior.

Sister LiFang Tsai and Bro Ben Tsai have been volunteering at the Temple for many years. Last month, Sisters Feng ChangPing, and Hsueh Betty joined them to be the temple volunteer angels working tirelessly for the salvation of many many souls beyond the veil. And that for our members were blessed as all four of them helped with make the temple baptism experience such a memorial one, including Sisters Feng and Hsueh. Amazing angels among us.

And because they aren't allowed to leave the temple when they were 'working', we were not able to take the group photo with them, so it was requested that their photo be attached to this event!
