General Conference was special this year. Our branch encouraged all members to participate in all of the sessions of Conference. The first session of General Conference this year was the Women's session on Saturday evening, March 28. All sisters, 8 years old and older were invited to attend. Before the Women's session, the stake sponsored an International evening, where the sisters wore traditional cultural costumes and shared international dishes before watching Conference together.
The youth gathered at the home of the Pugmires to watch the first two sessions on Saturday, April 4. They had brunch before and dinner in between sessions. On Saturday evening, the Priesthood brethren met at the Kentlands Chapel to enjoy pizza and drink with the Kentlands Ward at 7pm. Then we adjourned into the chapel to listen to the English, while some brethren listened to the Chinese translation in the Seminary room downstairs. Over 100 brethren came.
On Sunday, the branch encouraged members to come to the Kentlands Chapel to listen to the last two sessions of Conference. About 13 people gathered in the Young Women's room to listen in English, and another 13 people gathered in the Relief Society Room to listen in Chinese. After the first session, there was a potluck lunch in the cultural hall. About 12 people stayed to listen to the last session.
We were spiritually fed by the important messages from General Conference. It behooves all of us to go back and review and study the messages that are important for us individually and as families.
