2026-09-26 Mid-Autumn Moon Festival Activity

On the first day after the Moon Festival, our branch gathered at the Kentlands Chapel for our annual celebration of the Moon Festival. The moon was nowhere to be seen under clouds and rain, but our spirits were not dampened. About 100 people attended the moon festival, including members, friends, family, and former branch members. The food was very plentiful as always, highlighted by the specialty of original handmade branch moon cakes made by the Relief Society sisters and friends.

Brother Wesley Wei served as the master of ceremonies for the program tonight, accompanied by Brother Jason Liu who translated into English. Seven Primary children started the program by singing while dancing and waving flowers in their hands. Their courage to perform and their cuteness warmed our hearts. They were followed by a video, entitled "Mormon Rap," prepared by the youth before the evening began. The final activity was a game led by Brother Wei called "Chang E goes to the moon." Two people at a time tried to attach a card of Chang E to a picture of the moon on a whiteboard. One person was blindfolded and carried the Chang E card, while the other person with a microphone was allowed to give at most three hints. In total, seven teams participated, including representatives from the branch presidency, elders quorum, Relief Society, young women, young men, and Primary children.

Rather than stay at home and hide inside on a dark and rainy evening, the Moon Festival activity allowed us to be and converse with our friends. We met new friends and old friends, enjoyed delicious food, and had fun together. Happy Moon Festival, everyone!
